Behind the arm of Adam Armstrong and the bat of Jaymz McClelland, the Bellefonte Red Raiders took down Johnstown 12-1 in six innings. The win sends the Red Raiders to the District semi-finals on Monday.

Armstrong pitched six innings of one-run ball for Bellefonte. He allowed three hits, walked one, and struck out ten in a dominant performance.

“I was able to establish a rhythm early on which I was able to keep through the rest of the game. I tried to keep them off balance with a fastball and curveball combination, and our defense made a lot of really nice plays. It was all-around a great team win,” Armstrong said.

Armstrong threw a one-two-three inning to get the game going and that set the tone for the Red Raiders.

“Beans (Adam) on the mound was dominant and the defense was great,” Head Coach Dan Fravel said.

Bellefonte’s offense had a strong, disciplined showing. The team had three hits from CJ Funk, including a triple, and two hits apiece from Logan Mathieu and Cayden Lucas. Jaymz McClelland walked the game off in the sixth inning with a grand slam.

On top of the four runs batted in by McClelland, Mathieu drove in two. Funk, Tyler Kreger, and Lucas each drove one run in.

“The offense finally had their day we’ve been waiting for. The bottom of the order were tough outs and they were finding ways to be productive. And the top half remained consistent. Very happy for Jaymz, as he was the spark we needed. The walk off grand slam was awesome,” Coach Fravel said.

With the win, Bellefonte will be traveling to play Somerset on Monday.
