The Dragons were able to string together 3 hits, a fielder’s choice, a walk, and a wild pitch in the bottom of the 2nd to plate 4 runs. That’s all Central needed to cement the win at home in Martinsburg. Central picked up another run in the 5th for their final tally. Bellefonte’s lone run came in the 6th inning when Ben McCartney drove in CJ Funk on a sac fly to right field.
The Red Raiders picked up one more hit than The Dragons but the hits weren’t strung together enough to bring in runs. Logan Mathieu and Cayden Lucas each had multiple hits. McCartney and Dylan Deitrich each doubled in the game.
Adam Armstrong took the loss bringing his season record to .500 at 3-3. Armstrong went 5 innings giving up 5 runs (1 earned), struck out 6 and walked 1. Tyler Kreger took the mound in the 6th to finish out the game for Bellefonte.
Solid pitching propels JV to win
Timmy Shawley limited Central to 1 run over 6 1/3 innings before he hit pitch number 100 and propelled the JV squad to a 7-4 win. Shawley struck out 4 and didn’t walk a batter. The only run he surrendered was in the top of the 1st. Austin Greene pitched the final 2/3 giving up 3 unearned runs. Offensively Bellefonte received multi hit games from Shawley, Nick Catalano, and Noah Tressler. With the win the JVer’s get over the .500 mark for the first time all season at 7-6-1.
