Philipsburg-Osceola got the win Tuesday beating Bellefonte 5-2 in Philipsburg. The Red Raiders could only compile 3 hits in the game. Jaymz McClelland provided the biggest hit of the day with a 7th inning home run.
Ashton Wetzler took the loss, going 3.2 innings. Ethan Corman finished out the game in relief.
The Mounties scored runs in the 1st and 3rd innings, and rallied for 3 in the 4th.
Bellefonte’s only scoring in the game came in the 7th inning with a pinch-hit 2-run blast over the right field fence by McClelland driving in Ben McCartney, who began the inning with a walk.
Bellefonte’s two other hits were a 1-out double from CJ Funk in the 1st and a single in the 2nd from Cade Fortney.
The loss takes Bellefonte to .500 on the season at 8-8 overall, 6-6 in conference play. The Red Raiders will host BEA Thursday at home for senior day. Bellefonte will honor 7 graduating players starting at 4pm.
JV extends win streak
The JV squad extended their winning streak to 3 games as they defeated P-O 11-0 in 5 innings. Garrett Kuhn pitched a complete game, giving up only 3 hits, walking 2 and striking out 5. He was backed up by a near flawless defense that was lead by Corby Koleno’s spectacular day at shortstop. The offense received extra base hits and multiple RBI’s from Dylan Young (double, 2 RBI’s), Koleno (double, 2 RBI’s), and CJ Lauck (double and single, 2 RBI’s). Nick Catalano also chipped in with a multi-hit performance and a pair of runs scored.
